King County appointed Angelo Calfo to act as a deputy prosecutor to try an Auburn, Washington police officer on Second Degree Murder and First Degree Assault charges in the killing of Jesse Sarey. After a two-month trial, the officer was convicted on both charges. He was sentenced on January 23, 2025 to 200 months' imprisonment.
