David is a seasoned appellate and trial attorney whose practice focuses on complex commercial disputes, internal investigations, white-collar criminal defense, and other government enforcement matters. He has presented more than 50 appellate arguments, from the Ninth Circuit to the California Supreme Court, and his trial victories include the first ever criminal bankruptcy fraud verdict in Los Angeles federal court.
After completing a federal clerkship and starting his career at an elite litigation boutique, David spent a decade in government service. As a Deputy Attorney General for the State of California, he handled criminal appeals and priority trial court prosecutions, consulted for the Office of Legislative Affairs, and advised county prosecutors on novel jury instruction issues. David then became a federal prosecutor in Los Angeles. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney, he tried cases and ran investigations into fraud, embezzlement, drug and firearm conspiracies, and smuggling violations. He also served in the Appeals Section, handling the most complex issues facing the U.S. Attorney’s Office, overseeing other federal prosecutors during Ninth Circuit proceedings, and providing frequent trial advice to ensure success by even the Office’s most senior attorneys.
