Gabriel Reilly-Bates focuses on complex civil litigation and represents clients in a wide variety of commercial litigation matters, including breach of contract, conversion, breach of fiduciary duty, employment, trademark, administrative review, consumer protection, Fair Labor Standards Act, and probate. Gabe also handles bankruptcy litigation and represents trustees and creditors in various matters, including exemptions, preferential and fraudulent transfers, objections to discharge and the dischargeability of debt, equitable and conventional subrogation, and the assumption and rejection of leases.
Prior to joining Angeli & Calfo, Gabe worked for Morgan, Lewis & Bockius and Calfo Eakes in Seattle. Before moving to Seattle, Gabe worked for Jenner & Block and Taft Stettinius & Hollister in Chicago.

Represented a major pharmaceutical company in connection with consumer protection allegations filed by the Washington Attorney General’s Office arising from the sale and marketing of the company’s implant products; after substantially narrowing the plaintiff’s claims through pretrial motions, the case settled on terms favorable to the client
Represented an information technology company in a False Claims Act case relating to the provision of software and related services to the US Department of Defense; obtained a favorable ruling for the client at summary judgment
Represented a major auto insurance company in connection with a civil investigative demand by the Washington Attorney General’s Office into racial discrimination; resulting in no charges brought against the company
Represented an executive of Motorola and Motorola in employee separation lawsuit; executive was sued by her former employer for breach of a non-competition provision; brought counterclaims for gender discrimination and retaliation and prevailed
Represented a national financial services corporation in multiple bankruptcy adversary proceedings across the country
Represented members of a start-up Bitcoin vending machine company in an action against member for breach of duty of loyalty; obtained a temporary restraining orderagainst member and ultimately secured control of the company for the remaining members
Represented a municipal debt collection company in a breach of contract action against a subcontractor that had attempted to usurp the company’s contracts; obtained a preliminary injunction against the subcontractor that led to a successful settlement
Represented a large midwestern municipality in bankruptcy proceeding challenging the assumption and assignment of an exclusive gaming license that ultimately led to a favorable settlement for the municipality
Represented a foreign-based polymer company in a prosecution of trade secret, covenant-not-to-compete, and non-solicitation litigation against former executives who formed a competing company; obtained a preliminary injunction leading to a favorable settlement
